The Master of Science in Cybersecurity at the University of Malta is a comprehensive programme designed to equip you with advanced skills and knowledge in the field of cybersecurity. This postgraduate programme is a collaborative effort between the Faculty of ICT, Faculty of Laws and leading industry stakeholders. Aimed at students who already possess an ICT background but want to delve deeper into the field of cybersecurity, the course addresses the critical shortage of cybersecurity experts and caters to the evolving demands of cybersecurity from technical, regulatory, legal and managerial standpoints. Combining theoretical, practical and industry placement components, the pedagogical approach is grounded in practice and blends online synchronous and asynchronous learning with face-to-face lab sessions where appropriate.
a Bachelor degree pegged at Level 6 on the Malta Qualifications Framework and obtained with at least Second Class (Honours) or Category II in ICT or an area with a strong ICT component, or in Engineering, or
a Bachelor degree pegged at Level 6 on the Malta Qualifications Framework classified with Third Class Honours or Category III in the areas outlined in paragraph (a) above, provided that such applicants shall satisfy the Board of Studies that they are in possession of other qualifications, or relevant work experience, obtained following their first cycle degree. The Board of Studies may recommend to the Faculty Admissions Committee that the admission of such applicants may be made conditional on the results of an interview conducted for the purpose or
any other Honours degree obtained with at least Second Class Honours, provided that applicants would have successfully completed at least three individual study-units as directed by the Board, prior to being admitted to the Course.
Interviews, when necessary, shall be conducted by a board composed of at least three members.
Eligible applicants may register as visiting students for individual study-units and obtain credit for them. Subject to approval by the Board, credits awarded for any such study-units may be transferred to the Course, provided that not more than seven years have elapsed from the successful completion of the study-unit. When credit for more than one study-unit is being transferred to the Course, then the seven years shall commence from the date of the last credit awarded.

Identify any security vulnerabilities, demonstrate their exploit-ability, and explore remediation using pentest tools.
Establish a suitable incident response method for forensic evidence extraction and decryption, interpret the encoded information along with malware analysis in order to formulate a hypothesis concerning the incident in question through an investigation of the generated forensic timeline.
Explain and demonstrate how, with the disregard of side channels during security scheme implementation, can lead to breaking security, even if proven at a design level, thus reviewing the implementation to harden against similar attacks.
Review and classify state-of-the-art research-possible solutions and propose a research direction.
Recognise applicable access control mechanisms within operating systems in order to mitigate applicable threats, understand their limitations in terms of advances attack vectors and malware tactics, and which knowledge is obtained through reverse engineering.
Apply practical experience gained from tool usage and their inner-workings in order to formulate a work plan, as well as follow up through execution, report writing, and critical reviewing.
